The Honda Civic Hatchback has long been a fun and sporty car to drive, delivering great thrills and versatile space. Toyota has tried to get in on the action by launching a hatchback version of the Toyota Corolla. So how does this new entrant stack up against the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback? According to The News Wheel and Car and Driver, not quite well.
Before naming the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback the undisputed winner, Car and Driver pitted the two models against one another in several head-to-head challenges. The Civic Hatchback outperformed the Corolla Hatchback in most tests, including acceleration, braking, and handling. The testing crew also noted that the Civic Hatchback either had equal or superior fuel economy to the Corolla Hatchback. As for the interior, judges preferred the Civic Hatchback’s instrument cluster, practical rear seats, and cargo area.
“While other solid entries make for a highly competitive compact-car space, the choice between the latest Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla hatchbacks is pretty cut and dry,” remarked Mike Sutton of Car and Driver. “Along with the Civic lineup being broader as a whole, Honda’s hatch remains attractively priced, better packaged, and far more rewarding to operate . . . The Civic is simply the more satisfying machine for the money.”
