Top Safety Pick
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline is a ruggedly handsome truck that offers powerful performance, fun-oriented features, and a versatile truck bed. This pickup is also safe, something that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recognizes. The prestigious safety organization recently awarded the 2019 Ridgeline with an IIHS Top Safety Pick designation, when the pickup is equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights.
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline is the only pickup truck to earn this rating from the IIHS. Along with this honor, the Ridgeline also earned the best “Superior” rating from the organization for its available Collision Mitigation Braking System™, which applies the brakes when the truck detects a potential collision on the road ahead.
This technology is part of the larger Honda Sensing® suite of safety technologies, which comes standard on the Ridgeline RTL-E and Black Edition models. It also includes driver-assistance features like Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control, which aren’t tested by the IIHS.
Five 2019 Honda models have earned the Top Safety Pick designation alongside the Ridgeline, including the 2019 Accord, CR-V, HR-V, Pilot, and Odyssey. The 2019 Insight earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has also awarded all 2019 Honda models that it has tested so far – including the Ridgeline – a top five-star overall vehicle score.
